Hey there! I'm Leah, the heart behind the stitches!
Over 11 years ago, embroidery started as a simple “I need a hobby” moment… and it quickly turned into a true passion. What began as something fun to try has grown into a creative outlet I absolutely love and a business I’m so proud of.
I’m based in Drummonds, Tennessee, where I live with my husband, our four kiddos, and three very loved (and slightly spoiled!) dogs. When I’m not behind the embroidery machine, you’ll find me in my classroom as a PreK teacher, another role that fills my heart. Teaching little ones every day is probably why my designs (and this website!) are full of fun, color, and personality.
Whether I’m stitching something special for your family or creating for my own, I pour my heart into every detail.
Where It All Began
It all started during my college years at UT Martin. I was constantly visiting local embroidery shops to pick up sorority gear (Forever a Chi Omega!). I fell in love with the idea of custom pieces, things made to reflect each person’s unique personality and style.
Fast forward a few years to when I was expecting my son, Sutton. I found myself ordering personalized items for him before he was even born! Around that time, I had one clear thought: “I need a hobby.” What I didn’t realize was that hobby would quickly turn into something much more. With a new baby on the way and plenty of motivation, I decided to learn the craft of embroidery myself. Sutton wore embroidered outfits almost daily and I loved every second of creating them.
Two years later, my daughter Hattie Pearl was born, and my hobby continued to grow. Eventually, it turned into a small business called The Appliqué Owl, where I mostly created pieces for friends and local families. After three years of running the business, life naturally became busier as my kids grew, and I decided to pause the business side of embroidery for a season.
As my kids got older and life found a new rhythm, I felt the pull to start again. In 2023, Clint and I got married and officially blended our families, and that new season inspired a fresh beginning. Since my kids were getting older, I decided to jump back into the embroidery business and start Blended Threads Embroidery Co.
We are so thankful that all four of our kids not only get along, but truly complement each other so well. Blended Threads represents more than embroidery. It represents our family, our story, and the beautiful blending of creativity, love, and new beginnings.
